We are fortunate that many of our employees have been with Edwards for the long term. This brings stability to our services and our customers benefit from the accumulated knowledge and experience of our team. The benefits of this extend right through our business, from the drawing office, through our engineers on customers sites and in our quality fabrication facility in Perth, to our support and administration staff.
Our management team is made up of both long-serving employees and relatively new joiners to the firm. Our managers have typically fulfilled a number of roles within the business – two have worked their way from our apprenticeship scheme into managerial roles, and others have filled roles as diverse as procurement, the drawing office and production. We proactively endeavour to provide all our employees the opportunity to continue to develop their skills as far as possible within the project pipeline we are delivering.
Edwards has a long running Modern Apprenticeship scheme that operates in partnership with Perth College. The programme is structured around two streams – General Engineering and Electrical Engineering. Our engineers spend four years completing structured course work combined with the broad experience that serving our wide customer base enables Edwards to provide. We are fortunate that many of our qualified engineers came through the Edwards apprenticeship.
We seek new apprentices on a rolling basis and encourage applications.
Edwards also invests in a wide array of training for our employees on an ongoing basis to ensure they have the appropriate certifications and qualifications to deliver for our customers. The courses span engineering-based content such as specialist welding, working in confined spaces and working at height, through to professional content including accounting and project management.
