We’re getting ready to recruit the next set of apprentices to join the Edwards Engineering team, with our latest advert gathering an overwhelming response of more than 70 applicants.
The addition of five apprentices will bring the total number up to 13 (one in four of our workforce), working as fabricators, welders and mechanical apprentices. Our apprentice programme is designed and implemented to ensure a solid grounding of the key engineering skills we’ve built our reputation on. Due to the diverse nature of our work, Edwards is increasingly focused on developing apprentices in a wide range of skills required for our projects. We’ve developed a unique curriculum of internal training covering a range of operational skills including mechanical assemblies, site installations and deconstruction through to safety-based qualifications including operating cranes through to working in confined spaces.
Several members of our team started as apprentices and have completed their SVQ’s in Performing Engineering Operations through the local college and gone on to achieve several higher qualifications including NCs and HNCs.
